I'm a Senior AI Specialist at Van Lanschot Kempen, where I build AI systems for complex, high-impact problems in financial services. I specialize in turning ambiguous business questions into practical technical solutions, particularly when they involve large-scale, messy, or multimodal data.

My experience spans the full machine-learning lifecycle: identifying valuable use cases, collecting and structuring real-world data, developing and evaluating models, and deploying reliable systems on scalable cloud infrastructure. My technical toolbox includes Python, PyTorch, computer vision, NLP, and large vision-language models.

Before joining Van Lanschot Kempen, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Amsterdam's Research Center for Sustainable Investments and Insurance (RCSII). I hold a PhD in AI and multimedia analysis, where I developed methods for teaching machines to understand subjective concepts such as atmosphere, brand identity, and sustainability messaging. That work gave me a rigorous foundation in experimentation and evaluation that I now apply to building dependable AI systems.

I'm also the co-creator of Exquisitor, an interactive visual search system that combines conversational AI and relevance feedback to explore millions of images and videos with sub-second latency. My work has been applied to challenges including sustainability analysis, greenwashing detection, visual search, and large-scale multimedia understanding.
